National PeaceBuilder |
|
| As our way of honoring PeaceBuilders who go beyond all expectations, PeacePartners, Inc. recognizes several
“National PeaceBuilders” throughout the year. These exceptional people work unselfishly to
build peace in their homes, in their schools and in their communities; and in so doing they make the world a
better place for all of us. Join us in celebrating each and every one of them for their contributions in creating
safer, more peaceful learning environments. |

Inspiration comes in many forms. Words can inspire people to take action and to take risks. Pictures often inspire people to feel more deeply and care more intently. Music builds bridges by inspiring people to explore and appreciate new cultures and customs.
We rarely know when an outside inspiration will touch us.
We do, however, command our own power to inspire others.
The most potent inspirational tools we possess are our small daily actions: smiles, encouraging words, caring questions. No one proves this theory better than Dr. Karen Rusthoven. |
 |
| Dr. Karen Rusthoven is the founder, executive director and principal of Community of Peace Academy, a K-12 PeaceBuilders school in St. Paul, MN. |
With over 40 years experience in public and private education, Dr. Rusthoven knows what it takes to be a successful leader. It takes a PeaceBuilder.
Dr. Rusthoven values her staff and makes sure the environment they work in is rewarding, invigorating and peaceful. Because of the nurturing atmosphere at COP, she has an astonishingly low staff/teacher turnover. Why leave? It doesn’t get any better.
The students at Community of Peace feel valued and supported. They can put their minds to the task of learning and developing because they are not intimidated, persecuted or disrespected. It just isn’t allowed at Community of Peace Academy.
The most successful leaders lead by example. PeaceBuilders do the same. Dr. Karen Rusthoven is a leader, a PeaceBuilder and an example to us all. We admire the way she talks and walks and lives the life of a PeaceBuilder day to day, today and everyday. |
