National PeaceBuilder |
|
| As our way of honoring PeaceBuilders who go beyond all expectations, PeacePartners, Inc. recognizes several
“National PeaceBuilders” throughout the year. These exceptional people work unselfishly to
build peace in their homes, in their schools and in their communities; and in so doing they make the world a
better place for all of us. Join us in celebrating each and every one of them for their contributions in creating
safer, more peaceful learning environments. |

Great PeaceBuilders sites always have strong leadership. To improve an environment—to change a culture—to build peace, someone has to lead the way. Someone has to inspire others, not just for a while, but for the long run.
Liberty Elementary School has a hard-working PeaceBuilders leadership committee and a dedicated staff that work together to build peace. And at the heart of their success is their leader, Principal Ailene Cammon. |

| Ms. Ailene Cammon, principal and consummate PeaceBuilder at Liberty Elementary. |
Principal Cammon leads by example. She models the behavior of a PeaceBuilder for all her staff and students. She is calm, respectful, cooperative, helpful, and extremely organized. And while she is definitely seen as a supremely wise person at Liberty, she also surrounds herself with wise people she can count on and turn to. She knows it takes a team to build peace. Her staff knows they are valued and respected.
A wise person knows that we get exactly what we expect from others. Principal Cammon has very high expectations: she expects her staff to continue to make PeaceBuilders a priority and to model and coach PeaceBuilders everyday along with their daily lessons, and she expects students not only to practice the principles but to take them to heart.
Most importantly, Ms. Cammon does not expect anything from her staff or from her students that she is not willing to do. She expects them to be PeaceBuilders. And she is getting exactly what she expects because she is leading the way.
We are proud to honor Ailene Cammon as our esteemed PeaceBuilder of the Month. She is the kind of leader who sets the course for a successful and peaceful future. |
“Leadership is the wise use of power. Power is the capacity to translate intention into reality and sustain it.”
