| Torrey Hills Elementary School - Del Mar, CA |
When the entire staff at a site shares the responsibility for planning and implementing PeaceBuilders, not only do they ease the work load for all by dividing it up, they also ensure that everyone takes the opportunity to contribute to the success they achieve!
At Torrey Hills Elementary school, the whole school focuses on a particular PeaceBuilders Principle each month. The teaching staff takes turns decorating the enormous office bulletin board according to the month’s theme. |

| In order to “Increase the Peace”the staff has worked out a schedule so that each of them has an opportunity to show off their students’ talent and their understanding of the PeaceBuilders concept on which they are focusing. |
| The bulletin board is visible to all staff, students, family members, and visitors to the school. It lets everyone know that the folks at Torrey Hills are serious about building peace. |

| In December, the kindergarteners at Torrey Hills worked together to create a wonderful Seek Wise People bulletin board. |
| They began the month with a pledge to seek wise people. To help them determine who they would turn to for help and wisdom, they each completed a worksheet that tells about a person they think is wise. Each worksheet includes a self portrait and a sentence about a wise person. |

| One little girl knows that doctors are wise people she can go to for help. |

| Moms are wise people, for sure. |

| Because they help keep us safe, soldiers are wise people. |
 |

| And of course, firefighters are wise people the children can go to for help. |
 |

| Police officers are amongst the wise people in these children’s lives. |
 |
| Teachers are some of the wisest people on earth! |
| Each classroom made its own book of wise people profiles, which are displayed on the desk in front of the bulletin board. |

| We praise Principal Susan Paul and the fantastic PeaceBuilders leadership team at Torrey Hills for their wisdom in sharing the responsibility of implementing PeaceBuilders and making it visible at their site. No one is overwhelmed with too much responsibility and everyone gets to enjoy the talents of each and every classroom. This is a very wise idea indeed! The staff at Torrey Hills is in our book of wise people! |
