St. John School - Georgetown, KY
To celebrate Catholic School Week at the end of January, one of our very strong and passionate PeaceBuilders sites, St. John School, held an inspirational peace assembly. Special guests included the mayor, the local senator, the county magistrate, the police chief, the superintendent of schools, parents, and parish members.

Each group of students created a banner and gave a presentation during the assembly. The presentations included songs, readings, skits, and artwork. The banners were created by each grade level to illustrate a PeaceBuilders theme.

The kindergarten class created this imaginative banner that expresses through words and visuals their belief that "PeaceBuilders touch the world."

This beautiful banner includes the six PeaceBuilders Principles along with
photographs of first grade PeaceBuilders.

Second grade students focused on the principle Seek Wise People
as the theme for their eye catching, colorful banner.

Children in third grade used cutouts of their hands to represent their
desire and ambition to be helpful PeaceBuilders.

This inspired banner, created by the fourth grade class, includes many symbols of peace.

This lovely fifth grade banner, aptly titled "Children of Peace," encourages the belief that the young people at St. John will help to help build a peaceful future.

The sixth grade class designed and created an exquisite banner
that calls for world-wide peace.

This very clever banner shows peace being built by happy seventh and
eight grade PeaceBuilders-a promise for the future!
After the inspirational assembly, guests were invited to sample "Tastes around the World," presented by the St. John middle school students who cooked and served food from the countries and cultures they have been studying.

Helpful PeaceBuilders wait to serve their creations to special guests at St. John School.
An evening assembly with good food and great presentations by young people is a perfect way to entice and engage community members from all walks of life.

We praise the students, staff and community of St. John School for reaching out and increasing peace. The effort they put into building a peaceful culture does not only affect their school and community, but as the young people become adults and leaders they take these notions with them. By coaching young people to build peace now, St. John school is securing a better, stronger, happier future for us all.
