| St. Mary’s School - Johnson City, TN |
The folks at St. Mary’s School know the power of praise, and they practice this Principle with force each day.
The staff and children give and receive PraiseNotes regularly, and they use beautiful PraiseBoards to show them off and to guarantee recipients of PraiseNotes the thrill of public acknowledgement for the good things they do. |

| This first grade PraiseBoard, called “Peaceful Pickings” includes the name of each child in the class on an apple. PraiseNotes for the child are placed next to his or her apple. |

| This second grade PraiseBoard is titled “Caught in a Hive of PeaceBuilding.” Students do get caught up in doing good works when they are rewarded with praise. |

| This seventh grade PraiseBoard reminds students that “positive people don’t put others down.” It includes hand-written PraiseNotes, the PeaceBuilders Pledge and some positive affirmations, such as “Make it a great day!” and “You can do it!” |

| The third through eighth grade religion class at St. Mary’s keeps their PraiseNotes on this PraiseBoard, which includes a verse from the book of Psalms: “Seek peace and pursue it.” |
| Positive reinforcement in the form of PraiseNotes that give children and teens public acknowledgement for their good work (written praise they can then take home and share with their families) is strong enticement for PeaceBuilding behavior. We praise the staff at St. Mary’s for practicing the Principle of Praising Others with such enthusiasm. It certainly shows in the attitudes of the students. |
